There are many different services out there, with many different ideas of how to provide Elder Care.

Eldercare Home Health is not a franchise and we do not sell franchises.

As you'd expect from a company founded and run by a Registered Nurse, Eldercare Home Health approaches providing all care, from the perspective of a Registered Nurse. Our job is to provide excellent care to seniors throughout the GTA. Many other Elder care companies are run by people with little, if any formal health care training or credentials (see below).

We're specialists.

At Eldercare Home Health Inc. we provide care exclusively to the elderly. Almost all of our Clients are over 80, some are over 100. Many have come to us as a result of a crisis – a fall, unplanned surgery, or a sudden illness. Some are relatively well, but have family who are worried, or are themselves worried about being on their own, being safe, eating properly and bathing etc.

The health status of the Elderly often changes very quickly, but the significance of the change is often not apparent to the untrained (“non-medical care”) eye. On the other hand an Elderly person's condition can also change very slowly. Here again, an untrained eye may not recognize the gradual deterioration of the person's condition.

In both of the above situations experienced caregivers supervised and supported by an experienced Registered Nurse can literally make the difference between life and death.

Eldercare Home Health Clients receive Registered Nurse Supervised and Case Managed care, at no extra cost.

Other Elder Care providers:

Some companies are using the word "Nurse" in their company name. Interestingly, many of the individual offices of these companies do not have even a single Registered Nurse on staff.

Some services provide a level of care that does not include personal care, for example, bathing. We believe personal care is an important part of maintaining good physical hygiene and benefits our clients psychologically as well. It's also an opportunity for our caregivers to keep an eye on potential trouble spots and make sure that any issues are addressed promptly – before they become problems.

You may find that other companies describe their services as “non medical care”. This isn't surprising when you learn the backgrounds of a number of their new franchise owners. At one company, one new franchisee owner most recently worked with a well known international coffee shop, another worked at a call center, another at an airline, and another is a Commerce school graduate who specializes in entrepreneurship. As you might have guessed, the focus of these companies may be selling franchises.

As health care professionals they consult with other health care professionals – Doctors, Social Workers, Therapists, Pharmacies etc. and coordinate or Case Manage the care of all of our Clients.

We know who to talk with and how to access the important resources our Clients need.
